Iris Boelhouwer will resign as Technical Director of the Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS) in May 2025 after leading the federation for five years. The KNHS praised her leadership in talent development and performance, highlighting achievements such as team silver jumping at the World Championships in Herning and successful participation in the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
While the KNHS commended Boelhouwer’s accomplishments, stakeholders in the sport, such as journalist Jacob Melissen, have been critical of her management. Melissen described her tenure as “five years of dismal policy” and pointed out various blunders made by the federation under her leadership, including issues with international championship performances and the dismissal of national coach Rob Ehrens.
Despite differing opinions on her performance, Cees Roozemond, general manager of the KNHS, expressed gratitude for Boelhouwer’s dedication to equestrian sports and the achievements made during her time as Technical Director. Boelhouwer will continue her duties until her resignation, and the KNHS will begin the search for a suitable successor.
