HSI Announces €600,000 Breeding Grant Scheme for Equestrian Community in 2025

Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has announced that almost €600,000 will be awarded to 86 equestrian bodies, societies, and show organizations in the 2025 Breeding Grant Scheme, funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) under National Breeding Services. The grant will provide support to the equestrian industry across the country, with a focus on young horse classes at shows.

Minister Timmy Dooley, along with HSI Chief Executive Denis Duggan and Head of Breeding Dr. Sonja Egan, announced the allocation of funds to the grant recipients at Banner Equestrian Centre in Co. Clare. The budget for this year has increased to €595,820, providing prizemoney to various young horse classes at shows nationwide.

Minister Dooley highlighted the importance of the Breeding Grant Scheme in supporting breeders and grassroots organizations in producing high-quality Irish horses. The funding provided by DAFM through HSI helps ensure that Ireland’s breeders continue to produce top-quality young horses for various markets, strengthening the sport horse industry in the country.
