Horsin’ Around kicked off its 2025 riding season with a cookout and guided rides for special needs individuals, offering therapeutic benefits such as calmness and improved focus. The organization’s horses Raven, Champ, and Prince were available for rides, with volunteers assisting riders in navigating obstacles like weave poles and barrels. Horsin’ Around is the closest facility to McMinnville and Warren County offering this unique therapy through horseback riding.
Therapeutic horseback riding at Horsin’ Around helps improve posture, balance, and social skills, particularly beneficial for individuals with autism and sensory issues. Founder McBride initially wasn’t a horse person, but became passionate about the program after witnessing a nonverbal child speak while riding. The farm is equipped with a clubhouse featuring amenities like a kitchen, pool table, and quiet room for individuals who may become overstimulated.
Established in 2016 with support from the McMinnville Breakfast Rotary Club, Horsin’ Around offers equestrian therapy for individuals with special needs through monthly rides at their farm on Harrison Ferry Road. Participants ages 5 and up with special needs, diagnoses, or disabilities are welcome to join, with a waiver required before riding. The organization is always seeking volunteers to assist with the program.
