The Washington County 4-H program is honoring its senior members as they near the end of their 4-H journey. Ellie Evans, a senior from North Liberty, Iowa, is being recognized for her involvement in the Horse and Pony Club, where she has shown bucket bottle calves, heifers, and horses. She has also participated in activities such as home improvement, photography, woodworking, sewing, and needle arts.
One of Ellie’s favorite memories from 4-H was winning Grand Champion Halter with her roan horse and Reserved Champion Halter with her foal. She has also been involved in other activities such as FFA, Difference Makers, and the “You Matter Project.” Ellie credits 4-H with giving her the encouragement and support to pursue her passions and achieve her goals, even when faced with challenges.
Looking towards the future, Ellie plans to attend the University of Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she will major in either Ag Business or Ag Marketing with a minor in animal science. She believes that 4-H has helped her develop important skills and values that will benefit her in her future academic and professional endeavors, and encourages others to join 4-H for similar opportunities for growth and development.
