Members of the racing industry gathered in London for the Longines World Racing Awards, where City of Troy and Laurel River tied for the title of Longines World’s Best Racehorse with a rating of 128. City of Troy, a son of Justify, won the award for his performance in the Juddmonte International Stakes, while Laurel River won for his victory in the Dubai World Cup.
American-bred horses have dominated the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Awards in recent years, with Laurel River becoming the third United Arab Emirates-trained horse to receive the honor. Other top-rated horses included Via Sistina, Goliath, Fierceness, and Sierra Leone, with City of Troy’s Juddmonte International also being named the Longines World’s Best Horse Race.
The Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings also included top performers like Rebel’s Romance, Cogburn, Dornoch, and National Treasure, with Thorpedo Anna and Senor Buscador among a larger group of tied horses. The Travers Stakes was named the runner-up for the Longines World’s Best Horse Race, with Fierceness, Thorpedo Anna, Sierra Leone, and Dornoch contributing to its high rating.
