Harnessing Hope: A Therapeutic Horse-Riding Success Story in Morristown

Jennifer Wright has successfully launched her own therapeutic horse-riding service, Harnessing Hope, in Morristown, offering various forms of equine therapy through a program that serves about 150 individuals in its first year. Wright left Agape Therapeutic Riding Resources and is now providing equestrian therapy services to those in Hancock and Shelby counties and beyond, with a focus on bringing people closer to horses for healing and therapeutic effects.

Harnessing Hope offers therapeutic riding, driving, and equine-assisted learning, with a focus on individuals with disabilities and those looking to manage stress or emotions. Wright believes that horses can co-regulate with humans, providing a calming effect and teaching lessons in trust and communication. Clients range in age from 5 to 85, and the program has received positive feedback from participants and their families, with a focus on building relationships and partnerships in the community.

Wright’s program has been well-received, with plans to expand and reach more participants in the future. She offers a variety of services, including riding atop a horse, driving a cart pulled by a horse, and even grooming horses as a form of therapy. Harnessing Hope has already established partnerships with schools, scouting programs, and mentoring programs, with a goal of providing therapeutic benefits and personal growth through interactions with horses.
