Growing Vegetables and Flowers to Support the Irish Horse Welfare Trust

Horse breeder Christopher Davis from Stradbally is growing vegetable and flower seeds to raise funds for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT), a charity that rescues and rehomes horses. Christopher is growing a variety of plants including sweet pea, spring onions, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, and broad beans, which can be purchased from his home or outside Stradbally Superstore.

Christopher’s love for horses and gratitude towards his late father-in-law for teaching him about them has inspired him to support the IHWT. He believes in raising awareness about the mistreatment of horses and the importance of respecting them as sports animals and pets. Christopher is hoping for donations of pots and a small polytunnel to further his fundraising project.

IHWT manager Sharon Power expressed gratitude for Christopher’s unique fundraising idea and the support he has received. Christopher’s friend and neighbor, Michael Larter, as well as local businesses, have contributed to the project. For more information or to support the fundraiser, contact Christopher directly or visit the IHWT website or social media pages.
