Grand Prix Horse Gerion Sold to Taiwan: Emma Jonsson’s Journey with the Talented Gelding

Emma Jonsson’s Grand Prix horse Gerion, a 14-year old KWPN gelding by Jazz, has been sold to Taiwanese rider Linda Chen. Gerion had previously been owned by Mary Hanna and trained by Alena Starr before being purchased by Jonsson in 2019. Jonsson and Gerion had a successful career together, competing in various national and international competitions, including winning the Swedish Under 25 Championships in 2020 and placing second in the Grand Prix in Kristiansand in 2022.

Linda Chen, a Taiwanese amateur dressage rider based in Germany, purchased Gerion in October 2024. Chen, who is a member of the FEI Nominations Committee Member – Group VIII, has a background in show jumping before transitioning to dressage. The sale of Gerion coincided with Jonsson’s marriage and announcement of her pregnancy on Instagram, where she now goes by her married name Emma Sanderson. The pair had a successful partnership, winning bronze at the 2023 and 2024 Swedish Grand Prix Championships.

Gerion’s sale to Taiwan marks the next chapter in his competitive career, as he will now compete under the flag of Taiwan with Linda Chen. The talented gelding has had a successful career under various riders, including Briana Burgess and Emma Jonsson, and will continue to showcase his skills in international dressage competitions with his new rider.
