The Gamecock Equestrian team won the SEC Championship by defeating Texas A&M 11-8 after taking down No. 1 team Auburn. This victory marked the program’s third conference title and the first since 2014, with new head coach Carol Gwin leading the team to success. South Carolina swept all four available MOPs and all four SEC All-Championship Team selections.
The Gamecocks started strong on the Flat, winning 3-2 against Texas A&M. Chloe Stephenson and Chloe VanStone secured back-to-back points in Reining, with VanStone earning the highest Reining score of the day. Texas A&M fought back in Fences, but Amira Kettaneh and Natalie Jayne helped put the Gamecocks back on top. The meet ultimately came down to Horsemanship, where the Gamecocks prevailed 3-2 to secure the win.
The Gamecocks will now await their seeding in the NCEA Championship, which will be held in April at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida. This victory in the SEC Championship marks a significant achievement for the team and coach Carol Gwin, setting them up for continued success in the upcoming championship.
