GallopNYC Expands to Staten Island, Bringing Horseback Riding Community for Seniors, Those with Disabilities, and First Responders

GallopNYC is expanding its horseback riding community to Staten Island, taking over Ocean Breeze Stables to serve seniors, individuals with disabilities, and first responders dealing with trauma. The organization aims to reach more New Yorkers in need of their transformative programs, offering services for children and adults with disabilities, veterans, first responders, and older adults seeking wellness and connection.

The expansion to Staten Island was made possible through a proposal search by the New York City Parks Department, with GallopNYC being the highest rated bidder. The organization will operate at Ocean Breeze Stables alongside the NYC Parks Enforcement Patrol Mounted Unit. The opening of the new location is scheduled for the middle of the month, with riders already being scheduled for sessions.

GallopNYC currently operates at locations in Brooklyn and Queens, serving almost 500 riders weekly. The programs are certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International.
