Dash, an eight-year-old former racehorse, was found tied to a fence in poor condition after his last race in July 2024. The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) took him in and discovered he had won over €20,000 in his racing career. Dash was believed to have been used for trotting before being rescued by the ISPCA and is now undergoing rehabilitation in their care.
Despite his initial poor condition, Dash has made good progress with the ISPCA and will be looking for a new home in the coming months. The charity is working to find suitable homes for their equines in need of rehabilitation, as they have limited space and resources. They are also in the process of repairing damaged fencing from Storm Éowyn to better separate and care for the animals in their care.
The ISPCA is urging for more space to help more emaciated, injured, and cruelly treated equines that may need to be brought in by their animal welfare inspectors. They are seeking suitable homes for their animals ready for adoption and are continuing to provide intensive veterinary treatment for those in need. The charity is in need of support to continue their important work in rescuing and rehabilitating horses, ponies, and donkeys.
