Avril Juzwishin, diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, found joy and companionship in a therapy horse named KC at Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association. KC, a 24-year-old gentle giant, has become the “love of her life” and has helped her develop riding skills and connect with others facing similar life experiences.

The emotional bond between Juzwishin and KC is evident, with the horse being able to pick up on her emotions and behaviors, helping her feel calm and present. The partnership has led to a growth in Juzwishin’s confidence, with equine-assisted services at VTRA benefiting individuals with disabilities cognitively, physically, and emotionally.

As they celebrate their second Valentine’s Day together, Juzwishin and KC will enjoy cuddles and carrots instead of chocolates. The special bond between them has brought pure joy and positive changes to Juzwishin’s life, showcasing the power of equine therapy at VTRA.
