Equestrian Events and Quotas Confirmed for LA28 Olympics

The equestrian disciplines of Jumping, dressage, and Eventing will be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with a total of six medal events – a Team and an Individual event for each discipline. The quota places for equestrian remain unchanged from Paris 2024, with 200 spots allocated across the three disciplines. The decision was made by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee.

FEI President Ingmar De Vos expressed satisfaction with the IOC decision, highlighting the success of equestrian sport at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The qualification systems for the LA28 Games were discussed at the recent FEI Sports Forum and will be presented for approval at the FEI General Assembly in 2025. Equestrian will be one of 31 sports at the LA28 Olympics, with 200 quota places and six medal events.

Equestrian is the only Olympic sport where men and women compete as equals, from grassroots to Olympic level. The LA28 programme includes 25 mixed events across all sports and a total of 351 events. The decision to include equestrian in the LA28 Games was based on recommendations from the International Sports Federations and aligns with principles of gender equality, global appeal, and athlete focus.
