Dramatic Rescue of Abandoned Pig North of Edmonton Ends in Heartwarming Success

Jade Tory, a 21-year-old from Strathcona County, rescued an abandoned feral pig near Gibbons, north of Edmonton, after seeing a Facebook post about it. The pig had been roaming for over a year and was allegedly abandoned in a nearby subdivision. Tory and her brother spent hours trying to capture the pig, with the help of locals and animal control.

After a challenging chase through several subdivisions, the pig, named “Gibby,” was finally corralled into a trailer and taken to Tory’s family farm. Gibby is settling in well and will receive vet care, including vaccinations, tusk trimming, and correction of overgrown hooves. A GoFundMe has been set up for his medical expenses.

Tory expressed gratitude for the community’s support and plans to continue updating them on Gibby’s progress. She is thrilled that the pig will now have a proper life after a rough start and is grateful for the help in ensuring his safety and well-being.
