Denver city officials are considering investing up to $400 million in the next phase of the National Western Center project, which includes an equestrian center, hotel, housing, and parking garage. The project is part of a larger redevelopment effort on the 250-acre campus in northern Denver, with the goal of creating a year-round exhibition, agricultural education, and entertainment campus.
The new finance plan for the project will be presented to a City Council committee by Mayor Mike Johnston’s office and the National Western Center Authority. The project includes an equestrian center, hotel, workforce housing, and parking spaces, with funding coming from revenue generated by Ballot Measure 2C, a voter-approved measure to support the National Western Center.
Construction is expected to begin in the fall with a completion goal of 2028. The project will be developed by Community Activation Partners, a consortium of contractors, with the city responsible for planning, design, construction, and financing. The National Western Center Authority will oversee programs, operations, maintenance, and development of the new additions.
