Controversy Surrounds Approval of Dog Training Sessions in Barnby: East Suffolk Council Gives Green Light

Jennie Collins requested permission to change land use in Barnby for dog training sessions in addition to horse grazing. The proposal included individual training sessions for up to 12 dogs and their owners, running Wednesday to Sunday between 10am and 7pm in the summer.

Despite objections from neighbors citing noise concerns and potential impacts on mental health and property values, East Suffolk Council approved the application. Suffolk County Council Highways had no objections, and the conditions included booking in advance with a 30-minute gap between slots and adherence to a noise management plan.

The sessions will take place on the property with off-road parking to minimize disruption to neighbors and ensure dog safety. Concerns about noise, dogs escaping onto a nearby road, and property values were raised, but the council ultimately deemed the development acceptable and approved the application.
