Controversy at Tampa Bay Downs: Naughty Rascal Wins Pasco Stakes After Disqualification

In the $150,000 Pasco Stakes, Owen Almighty was initially believed to be the best horse in the field, but after veering into Rookie Card and causing a potential accident, he was disqualified and Naughty Rascal was declared the winner. Trainer Gerald Bennett plans to bring Naughty Rascal back for the $250,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes and aims to win the Tampa Bay Derby.

Naughty Rascal, ridden by Edwin González, won the Pasco Stakes and raised his career earnings to $220,630. Despite controversy surrounding the disqualification of Owen Almighty, Naughty Rascal proved himself and was praised for his performance. The winning time was 1:22.50 and Naughty Rascal paid $8.20 to win.

In the $150,000 Gasparilla Stakes, Dancing Magic rallied to win by two lengths, rewarding jockey Júnior Alvarado for nearly being unseated in a previous race. Dancing Magic is owned by the Mellon Patch concern and trained by Michael Campbell. The victory raised her career earnings to $116,475 and she may compete in the $150,000 Suncoast Stakes next.
