Community Effort Saves the Day: A Thank You to Those Who Helped Round Up Runaway Horses

Animal Control Officer Jim Bebarski and other law enforcement officers, friends, and neighbors helped round up horses Willow and Harley after they escaped on March 5. Despite being afraid of water, the horses made their way from Ash Point Road to Stover’s Point, where they were lured back with carrots. The Douglas family is grateful for everyone’s help in safely returning the horses home.

The Douglas family extends their thanks to everyone involved in the effort to track down and return their horses, Willow and Harley. They appreciate the patience, quick thinking, good humor, and assistance in locating the animals. If the horses left any gifts in yards along the way, the family is willing to clean up after them and also offer well-composted manure for gardens.

Kara, Craig, and Ellie Douglas of Harpswell Neck are grateful for the support and assistance they received in retrieving their horses, Willow and Harley. They express their appreciation for the community’s help in safely returning the animals home and are willing to clean up any messes left behind. Additionally, they offer composted manure for gardens to those interested.
