Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has opened Owensboro Racing & Gaming, a $100 million entertainment venue in Kentucky with 600 historical racing machines, a sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and dining options. The venue is expected to boost economic activity and support purse funding for Ellis Park Racing & Gaming.

Despite rainy weather, hundreds of patrons lined up for the grand opening, with the first in line arriving six hours before the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The venue has already created 200 construction jobs and 224 permanent positions, with CDI officials expecting it to be a long-term economic driver for the region.

CDI plans to enhance Owensboro Racing & Gaming over time with new attractions and entertainment options, aiming to drive tourism, entertainment, and economic opportunities in eastern Daviess County. The company is excited to introduce reasons for patrons to return to the venue again and again.
