Chancer McPatrick and Hill Road Return in Tampa Bay Derby: A Look at the Field and Favorites

Chancer McPatrick, a dual grade 1 winner, will be competing in the $400,000 Tampa Bay Derby, offering Kentucky Derby qualifying points. Despite his success as a juvenile, he struggled in his last race due to factors like the race flow and cross-country travel, as well as minor ankle surgery.

Chancer McPatrick will face competition from other promising 3-year-olds in the Tampa Bay Derby, including Hill Road, Owen Almighty, Brodeur, and Patch Adams. Both Chancer McPatrick and Hill Road will be racing with blinkers added, with Hill Road showing potential after a strong finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Patch Adams, the fastest horse in the race, will also be competing in the Tampa Bay Derby after a disappointing performance in the Southwest Stakes. Thoro-Graph performance figures provide insights into the potential of each horse in the race based on their past performances and development.
