The third annual Girton Grammar Horseland Bendigo Interschool Showjumping and dressage Championships took place at the Elmore Equestrian Centre, drawing 60 riders for showjumping and 120 for dressage. Girton emerged victorious in showjumping, while Toorak College claimed first place in dressage. The event was organized by Girton teacher Nic James and parent Jody Pickering, providing opportunities for young riders to showcase their skills.
The competition celebrates the dedication and horsemanship of equestrian students from Girton and beyond, with the school proud to host an event that brings the interschool equestrian community together. The Girton Equestrian Club, part of the school’s Co-curricular Program, competes in various interschool competitions throughout the year. Standout performers at the event included Charlotte Burnside, Leah Pickering, Harrison and Francis Walls, and others.
The event was successful thanks to the support of sponsors and the hard work of student, staff, and parent volunteers. The competition showcased exceptional local talent and provided a platform for young riders to demonstrate their skills. The Girton Equestrian Club continues to provide opportunities for students to compete in various equestrian disciplines locally, regionally, and interstate.
