Ten Cattaraugus County 4-H members participated in the inaugural “Ride for Success” event with clinician Chase Barnes, focusing on Western and English Pleasure techniques. The clinic allowed members to work one-on-one with a skilled professional to improve their riding skills.
The event was hosted by 4-H Horse Committee members at Linn Acres Performance Horses in Portville. Western Pleasure emphasizes a slow, collected gait, while English Pleasure focuses on covering ground efficiently with poise. A second “Ride for Success” event will be held in May, focusing on dressage and Jumping.
Those interested in getting involved or learning more about the Cattaraugus County 4-H Horse Program can contact the 4-H office by calling (716) 699-2377 or emailing [email protected]. The upcoming event will feature clinics on dressage with Bobbie Kerr and Jumping with Rebecca Clawson, with auditing available for $10 per person.
