Chloe Smith fell from her horse, Comet, during a routine winter hack, landing awkwardly on her leg and experiencing intense pain. Comet sought help from a nearby postman, who called 999 and stayed with Chloe until help arrived.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance critical care team quickly assessed Chloe’s injuries, confirming a broken and dislocated ankle. Despite the severity of her injury, Chloe’s soft tissues remained intact, which was a positive sign for her recovery.
Chloe underwent surgery to repair her ankle and is now focused on her recovery, visiting Comet daily. She expressed gratitude to the YAA team for their help and support during her time of need. The rescue will be featured on an episode of Yorkshire Air 999.
