Bratt Woman Convicted of Animal Cruelty for Mistreating Horses

Lois Adams Hall, a Bratt woman, was convicted of animal cruelty for mistreating horses, one of which had to be euthanized due to its poor condition. The horses were found in a fenced yard with no grass, empty water trough, and no shelter. Despite being asked multiple times to take the horses to a veterinarian, the family avoided doing so, leading to the death of one horse named Ajax.

Escambia County Animal Control intervened after the horses were found in poor conditions, with one horse being euthanized due to its emaciated state. The owner’s daughter was uncooperative and argumentative when approached by Animal Control, claiming the horse was older than it actually was. A neighbor eventually stepped in to feed and water the horses, leading to their removal from the property.

As a result of the mistreatment of the horses, Lois Adams Hall was found guilty of misdemeanor unlawful confinement or abandonment of animals and felony causing cruel death, pain, or suffering of animals. She was sentenced to 18 months probation and prohibited from owning any animals in the future. The case highlights the importance of proper care and treatment of animals to prevent cruelty and suffering.
