Brad Grant Inducted into Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame as Builder, Following Father’s Legacy

Brad Grant, a longtime harness-racing owner, has been named for induction into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame as a builder, following in his father’s footsteps. Grant has owned several notable millionaire horses, including Hambletonian winners Atlanta, Ramona Hill, and Bulldog Hanover. He has also received awards such as the 2018 Humanitarian Award and the Woolworth owner of the year.

Other standardbred inductees into the Hall of Fame include Kent Oakes, Dave Briggs, Muscle Mass, Yankee Paco, and trainer John Bax. The six thoroughbred inductees include Ivan Dals, Marketing Mix, jockey Perry Winters, Ghostzapper, Storm Bird, and trainer Mike Doyle. The ’25 class will be formally inducted on August 6.

John Bax, a trotting specialist, was Canada’s top trainer in 2001 and has conditioned horses like Goodtimes. Ivan Dals established himself as a top owner-breeder over almost 50 years, while Perry Winters, an Edmonton native, rode for 33 years and recorded over 2,900 wins. The contributions of these individuals to the horse racing industry have earned them a place in the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
