Katie Vader, a member of the Boundary County 4-H horse program, won the public speaking contest at the county and state levels with her speech titled “Skills Over Pills.” She will now compete at the national contest in Louisville, Kentucky on Nov. 9. Vader has been riding horses since she was 7 years old and plans to continue working with younger 4-H horse program members over the summer.
Vader is known for being a great role model for the youth in the 4-H horse program, and program officials have praised her dedication and leadership. She is the second member from Boundary County to advance to the national competition in the past two years, following Myia Anderson’s success last year. The Boundary County 4-H Horse leaders, members, and parents are all wishing Vader the best of luck at nationals.
The Boundary County 4-H program holds an annual public speaking and demonstration contest for all youth members, providing them with the opportunity to showcase their skills and knowledge. Vader’s success at the county and state levels is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the program, and she is now looking forward to representing her community at the national competition.
