BLM Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Event in Groesbeck, TX: Up to $1,000 Incentive Offered

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be hosting a two-day wild horse and burro event on March 14-15 at the Limestone County Fairgrounds in Groesbeck, TX. The event will feature 120 animals available for adoption, with adoptions taking place on March 14 from noon to 6 p.m. and on March 15 from 8 a.m. to noon.

BLM is now offering up to $1,000 to adopt an untrained animal as part of their efforts to find every horse and burro a good home. Additional steps have been taken to secure the health and safety of the animals through the Adoption Incentive Program, including inspections within six months of the adoption date. The animals available for adoption are adult and yearling horses, as well as burros that were once roaming free on public lands in the west.

Since 1973, BLM has successfully placed over 280,000 wild horses and burros in approved homes across the country through their Adoption and Sale Program. To qualify to adopt, applicants must be at least 18 years old with no record of animal abuse, and must have a minimum of four hundred square feet of corral space per animal with access to food, water, and shelter. BLM staff will be available onsite to assist with the application process, and the event will take place at the Limestone County Fairgrounds in Groesbeck, TX.
