BLM Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Event Coming to Seguin, Texas

The Bureau of Land Management will be holding a two-day wild horse and burro event in Seguin, Texas on February 21-22, featuring 120 animals available for adoption. The event will include adoptions on both days, with an adoption incentive of up to $1,000 for untrained animals.

The animals offered at the event are adult and yearling horses and burros that were once wild on public lands in the West. The BLM removes excess animals to maintain healthy herds and protect rangeland resources, making the adoption program crucial for management goals. Since 1971, over 280,000 animals have been placed in approved homes across the country.

To adopt, applicants must be at least 18 years old with no record of animal abuse, and have appropriate corral space and transportation for the animals. BLM staff will be onsite to assist with the application process, and the event will take place at the Seguin Events Complex in Texas. For more information, contact 866-468-7826 or visit www.blm.gov.
