Carole Herder, the founder of Cavallo Horse and Rider, was thrilled to see Beyoncé’s horse wearing her company’s removable velcro boots during the NFL halftime show. The boots were used to prevent slipping on the stadium’s concrete floors and were compared to running shoes for horses.
Herder was inspired to create the boots as an alternative to traditional metal horseshoes, which she believed were uncomfortable for horses. While the equine industry generally believes properly applied horseshoes should not cause pain, there are risks associated with their use, such as hoof damage and bacterial infections.
Despite other alternatives on the market, Cavallo’s boots are considered the most popular in the world. Herder hopes that the exposure from Beyoncé’s performance will encourage more horse owners and riders to consider alternative options for their horses’ hoof care.
