Murray’s Brian Edwards correctly predicted that Thorpedo Anna would win Horse of the Year after her Breeders’ Cup Distaff victory. Edwards, along with his father Mark, were part of the team that saw Anna receive the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year. Mark, a Paducah attorney, is one of the owners of Anna, who is trained by Kenny McPeek.
Brian Edwards expressed his amazement at being part of the ceremony where Anna received the Horse of the Year award. Anna’s name was inspired by Mark’s granddaughter, Anna Thorp, a Louisville teenager who attends Sacred Heart Academy. Thorp’s presence at the ceremony added to the excitement surrounding Anna’s success in the racing world.
In addition to winning Horse of the Year, Anna was also named 3-Year-Old Filly of the Year. Mark Edwards expressed gratitude to Kenny McPeek and Judy Hicks for their roles in Anna’s success. Anna is now preparing for her 4-year-old season, with her first race expected to take place in Arkansas in a few weeks.
