Animal Rising Condemns Racing Industry After Multiple Horse Injuries at Ayr

Animal Rising has condemned the racing industry for its continued use of horses for entertainment and profit, particularly following the injuries and falls at the Scottish Grand National festival. Rose Patterson of Animal Rising criticized the industry for the violence and cruelty towards horses, stating that the grim reality of racing was exposed to the public during the recent events.

Campaigners from Animal Rising were arrested in 2023 for attempting to halt the Epsom horse races and later for entering the racetrack at Ayr following the death of horse Oscar Elite. The group believes that the racing industry exploits horses for profit and that cruelty will continue until racing is stopped for good.

Multiple trials are set to take place later this year for the 118 arrests at the 2023 Grand National at Aintree, with defendants facing charges of causing a public nuisance. Animal Rising campaigners also attended a plea hearing for disrupting the Epsom races in 2023, emphasizing their commitment to demanding change until no more horses die for sport.
