Local residents in Oro-Medonte are outraged over allegations of severe neglect involving several horses at a rural property owned by Stephanie Redlick. Former shelter manager Barb MacLeod claims the horses are being left without food or water and are in poor condition, with one colt already dead. Concerned residents have observed the neglect for over a year and have contacted the police.
Despite the accusations, Redlick denies any wrongdoing and insists she has food and water for the horses. She claims to have rescued 15 horses from slaughter and has reliable suppliers and supporters in the horse industry. Redlick also refutes claims of being absent from the farm, stating she is there 24/7 and that the Animal Welfare Agency of Ontario found no reason to take action.
Neighbours and advocates are calling for intervention to protect the neglected horses, with one neighbour describing the situation as “absolutely disgusting.” While authorities have been unable to remove the horses due to the presence of food, water, and shelter on the property, advocates believe the law does not go far enough to protect horses from neglect. Redlick maintains her innocence and states that her lawyers, investigators, and the police will handle the situation.
