The ABSS is hosting a new dairy show at the Elmore Events Centre in northern Victoria on November 15 and 16, featuring a youth show, in-milk classes, and a new “it’s a knockout class” with cash prizes. Organiser Linda Leach hopes to fill the gap left by the demise of the dairy show at Melbourne Royal and create a low-cost, all-breed event for people of all ages and abilities to participate in.
The event will be the first dairy show at the Elmore site, which boasts outstanding facilities and a large grassed arena. Elmore Events Centre executive manager Derek Shotton is excited for the dairy show, as it will showcase the venue’s infrastructure and provide a new opportunity for the dairy community to come together. The centre hosts around 50 to 60 events a year and has invested in modern facilities to accommodate various types of events.
The ABSS is seeking donations and sponsorships to support the dairy show, with all profits going towards promoting and showcasing the different breeds in attendance. The committee is expecting some challenges with this being the first show, but they are eager to make it a premier event for all dairy enthusiasts. The Elmore site offers camping facilities, sheds, and a grassed arena, making it an ideal location for the dairy show.
