The Abbotsford Community Foundation has distributed $6,000 in animal welfare grants in memory of Mary Victoria Wakefield to six local charities this year. The grants are awarded annually to support various projects or initiatives of local animal welfare agencies.
Recipients of the grants this year include the Abbotsford Police Foundation for retired police service dogs, Paws for Hope Animal Foundation for preventative and urgent vet care, Fraser Valley Humane Society for spaying/neutering and vaccinating cats and kittens, Circle F Horse Rescue Society for food and care costs, and SAINTS Rescue for ongoing vet care for elderly animals.
Since 2003, the Mary Victoria Wakefield Animal Welfare Fund has distributed over $150,000 to support regional animal charities. More information on the fund can be found on the Abbotsford Community Foundation website.
