Members of the Jefferson County 4-H Teen Council organized an evening day camp for 4-H Cloverbuds at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The event was attended by four Cloverbud members who learned how to make homemade butter and ice cream in a bag, as well as constructed hobby horses for challenges on an outside course. The Teen Council plans to host another day camp for younger members in June and another Cloverbud day camp in August.
4-H is a non-formal educational youth-development program administered in Pennsylvania by Penn State Extension. The program, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, aims to help young people develop knowledge and skills to become capable, caring, and contributing citizens. To find a local 4-H program, individuals can visit the Penn State Extension website or contact the Penn State Extension Office in Jefferson County.
The 4-H Teen Council members were responsible for planning and executing the day camp for Cloverbuds, showcasing their leadership skills and dedication to the program. Through activities like making homemade butter and ice cream, as well as constructing hobby horses, the Cloverbuds were able to engage in hands-on learning experiences. The upcoming day camps planned by the Teen Council will continue to provide opportunities for younger members to learn and grow within the 4-H program.
