The hippology contest tested equine knowledge through various activities, with top placements in different age groups. The horse quiz bowl awarded points for correct answers to questions about horse-related topics, with top scorers in each age group.

In the Senior Division of the 4-H Hippology Contest, Mikayla Tobey from Fairfax took first place, followed by Allessandra Hoffman from Milton and Amie Thurston from West Rutland. In the Junior Division, Jane Curry from Burlington secured the top spot, with other winners including Kelsey Davis from West Rutland and Fiona Adams from Milton in the younger age groups. The Horse Quiz Bowl also had top scorers in different age groups, with Carlie Rondeau from Coventry leading the Senior Division.

The events were organized by Wendy Sorrell, a UVM Extension 4-H livestock educator, with the help of volunteers. The contests tested participants’ knowledge of horse colors, breeds, anatomy, tack, and other equine-related topics. The top scorers and winners in each age group demonstrated their expertise in horse-related subjects, showcasing their dedication to the 4-H horse program in Vermont.
