Fifteen horses got loose near Wilson Avenue and 76th Street in Kent County, surprising drivers and causing a commotion on the roadways. The horses came from a local boarding facility and were corralled by deputies, state troopers, and bystanders after more than an hour.
Law enforcement officials worked to safely return all 15 horses to their home, closing down parts of M6 and other roads temporarily to prevent accidents. They thanked the community for their help in handling the situation and emphasized the importance of calling 911 if an animal is loose and poses a danger to drivers.
Michigan State Police temporarily closed parts of M6 while responding to the incident, with one trooper giving a horse the nickname “Durango.” The owners of the horses were commended for calling 911 promptly, and law enforcement stressed the importance of alerting authorities in similar situations to ensure safety on the roadways.
